An incident of attempted physical assault on a female resident doctor has come to light at a hospital in Mumbai. The female resident doctor at Sion Hospital was allegedly threatened by a group of 5-6 intoxicated attendants, who also tried to physically assault her at the hospital early this morning. A police case has been filed in the matter.
The patient's attendants along with the patient ran away from the hospital after the incident. The alarming incident highlights the constant threat faced by medical professionals on duty.
"Our doctor's safety is non-negotiable. This situation requires immediate attention and implementation of strict security measures in all hospitals," said a doctor on condition of anonymity.
The incident comes amid huge protests by doctors and other medical staff across the country pressing for a central law to check violence against healthcare personnel.
